Valda Durden Browning's Obituary
PERRY-
Valda Durden Browning, 70, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, after a brief illness. A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2014, at 5:00 p.m. at the Resurrection Mausoleum in Perry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Saturday, July 19, 2014, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home.
Mrs. Browning was born in Dodge County to the late Ewart and Pauline Polk Durden. She lived in Perry most of her life, having moved from Helena a few years after graduation from high school. She was a founding member of Free Point Church of God, originally named Perry Church of God. Mrs. Browning worked for the Houston County Board of Education for over 30 years in Food Service. She was well-known by many Houston County students, most recently those at Kings Chapel Elementary School and Morningside Elementary School. She enjoyed working in her yard that she kept so beautifully with all of the flowers she grew. A very loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, "Granny" kept everyone "in line", but still showed love and compassion for each and every person she knew. She will be dearly missed by her family and so many in our community. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 40 years, Gene Browning; a grandson, Micah Browning; and a brother, Donald Durden.
Left to cherish the memories of Mrs. Browning are her son and his wife, Mike and Lorie Browning of Haynesville; her grandchildren, Jeana Walker (Russ) of Perry, and Levi Browning and Cade Browning, both of Alaska; her only great-grandchild, Gauge Walker; 4 sisters, Audrey Cason, Patricia Jones (Milton), Carolyn Brown (Jack), and Gail Price (Charles); 3 brothers, Wallace Durden, Gary Durden, and Wilson Durden (Gail); and many, many nieces and nephews.
Condolences may be left for the family in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
