It was 1987, and this tall, handsome wide eyed grad student walked into my office at Mansfield University and said in the smoothest southern drawl I've ever heard, "Hi, I'm Mike Pike from Valdosta State.". From that point on, it was one of those unspoken friendships that lasts forever. I had the pleasure of teaching and mentoring Mike as he passed his Athletic Training Exam, served on his Masters committee, share the ups and downs of being an athletic trainer at the college level. Mike was a wonder man, and one that I hold near and dear to my heart. All my sympathies to his family. He has left us too soon.
There are so many memories to share. Mike and I go back to the 1990s, when we both were working for Piedmont Sports Medicine. I'm so glad we were able to work together for so very long. Mike was always willing to help any way he could. From helping cover a wrestling meet to swapping injury clinic days. Mike was a great friend and colleague. He loved his work but he loved his Girls so much more. Tammy, Tiffany, and Michelle were the loves of his life. All my love to Tammy, Tiffany, Michelle, and the rest of the family. Rest easy my friend, you will be missed.
Mike was the Athletic Trainer at Warner Robins High School when I worked there as the Head Cheer Coach. He was such a wonderful, sweet man. He was a blessing to all. I am so very sorry for your families loss.
Prayers sent for family and friends. God bless you all.

Prayers and Condolences sent to each of you during this time. Though we worked in different counties, our profession kept Mike and I close in regards to serving our athletes, coaches, and staff. He was also an older VSU alumni and forever we will share both being Blazers. Like myself, we both hold the honor of being Athletic Trainers for our high school Alma Maters.

I will fondly remember our times together. We spent Summers together skiing, swimming, shooting BB guns. Living in Alabama in our early years and moving to Perry, riding our bikes around town causing trouble. Fighting like brothers do. You were there to help with mom and dad during their illnesses. I'm so proud of the father and husband you became. Love you!
We miss you so much, Uncle Mike. You were the best uncle anyone could ask for. Thank you for sharing love and compassion with us. We love you immensely, forever and always.
