Mary Elizabeth 'Betty' McCurdy's Obituary
PERRY, GA-
Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Carroll McCurdy, 76, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2013, at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 18, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home with Jay Jones, Blue-Bird Company Chaplain, officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 17, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home.
Ms. McCurdy was born on September 2, 1936, in Lamar, Oklahoma, and was the daughter of the late Dallas C. and Laura Gray Carroll. She had lived in Perry for the past 6 years moving from Grand Prairie, Texas, to be near her son. Ms. McCurdy graduated from Texas Tech University, where she received a BBA in Education and was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She also received a Master's Degree in Education from the University of North Texas. She worked with the Grand Prairie School System in Texas, where she retired after 33 years of service. She was a member of Perry Church of Christ and was a devoted student of God's Word. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Bartley and Florine Hulsey, and a niece, Debbie Boatright.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Michael McCurdy of Macon; her sister, Bobbie Bryant of Mansfield, Texas; her niece, Becky Holton (Raymond); her great-niece, Laura Irvine (Stephen); and her great-nephew, Bryan Trussell (Monica) and his children, Jackson Trussell and Maddie Trussell.
