M. Gene Riner's Obituary
PERRY-
M. Gene Riner, 72, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2014, after a brief illness. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. at First Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Heart of Georgia Hospice, 1120 Morningside Drive, Perry, GA 31069.
Mr. Riner was born in Stillmore, Georgia, to the late Robert James Riner and LaNeath Amerson Riner Cain. He proudly served our country in the U. S. Air Force. He lived most of his life in Houston County where he worked in Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base and Retired in the Inner Service Office. An avid outdoorsman, Gene spent many hours hunting and fishing, and took his boys along when he could. Early in life he learned to play guitar and continued strumming tunes through the years. He enjoyed cooking, especially on the grill, and each year frying fish for the family reunions. Gene greeted everyone with a great smile, and he loved everyone. His greatest treasure, however, was his family with whom he cherished the time spent. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Ed Cain; and 3 sisters, Norma Jean Riner, Nathaleen Riner Counts, and Michelle Cain.
Left to cherish the memories of Gene are his loving wife of nearly 35 years, Rhonda Stewart Riner of Perry; his sons and their wives, Warren and Kathy Riner of Calhoun, Keith and Sylvie Riner of Seattle, Washington, and Jesse and Krystal Riner of Perry; 6 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his siblings, Wayne Riner (Sandra) of Eidson, Tennessee, Robert Riner of Florida, Al Riner (Patti) of Nevils, Keith Riner (Karen) and Jerry Riner (Stacy), both of Frostproof, Florida, Debbie Cain of Griffin, and Mike Cain of Elko; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to leave condolences for the family in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
