John 'Jack' F Duke's Obituary

Dr. John F. Duke III passed away on February 11, 2015. "Jack" was born in Fort Valley, Ga. November 24, 1940. He graduated from Peach County High School and continued his education at Georgia Tech. After transferring to Emory University he ultimately graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta with his Doctor of Medicine degree. He completed his residency at The Medical Center in Macon, Ga. For two years he served in the United States Navy in Charlotte, N.C. After serving in the Navy he returned to Fort Valley to practice medicine with Dr. Sims and Dr. Grantham. For 40 years he served the community of Fort Valley and was love and trusted by many patients. He is survived by his best friend and wife Gale Duke of Perry. His surviving children include Mark Duke of Macon, Ga., Virginia Duke Knight of Saint Marys, Ga., Todd Haga of Fort Valley, Ga., and Jim Haga of Saint Augustine, Fl. He is also survived by his faithful companion Simon and eight grand-children. He was a member of Saint Christopher Episcopal Church in Perry. Many times Jack could be found in the garden or on the river enjoying nature and enjoying life. Visitation will be Monday February 16, 2015 at 1:00p.m. Services will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at Saint Christopher Episcopal Church in Perry.
