JOHN RUSSELL BAILEY's Obituary
SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA –
John Russell Bailey, age 73, formerly of Perry, Georgia, peacefully passed away early in the morning on Sunday, April 21, 2024. Viewing and services will be held at Hollywood Forever Mortuary Chapel at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, 2024.
John was one of the founders of Make Up Designory, also known as MUD in the industry, where he also taught make-up techniques to aspiring make-up-artists for film, fashion, and television. John began his teaching career in 1973 at Florida State University. He also taught at California State University at Long Beach and had taught at the vocational level since 1991. In addition, John lectured on make-up extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Aisa, and Mexico. He is responsible for the development and initiation of the beauty education for Make-Up Deisngory and supervised the training and performance of all beauty instructors. John served as a make-up artist to celebrities including Edward James Olmas, Jude Law, Bo Derek, Ricardo Montalban, Fred Dryer, and Maria Conchito Alonso. An actor himself, John earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Arts from Florida State University. One of his proudest accomplishments was touring the Southern states with is one-man-show posing as Mark Twain. John hails from Tifton, Georgia, lived for several years in Perry, and graduated from Perry High School. Throughout his life, he was a mentor to countless make-up students. He had a generous soul, remarkable wit, and a great sense of humor.
John was preceded in death by his parents, George and Sara Moore Bailey, and his brother, Mike Bailey.
Left to cherish the memories they made with John are his wife, Elvira Evana Bailey, and their young daughter, Sophia Bailey.
