SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA – John Russell Bailey, age 73, formerly of Perry, Georgia, peacefully passed away early in the morning on Sunday, April 21, 2024. Viewing and services will be held at Hollywood Forever Mortuary Chapel at Read Obituary
John was a colleague, a friend, a roommate, and eventually a business partner. As colleagues, we were fired together, and as roommates, we went through an earthquake together. For Make-up Designory, John's contributions were immeasurable. From the early days of offering his bedroom apartment as the first Mud office to his philosophies on learning and teaching in the classroom, John's influence on makeup design was profound. His hundreds of past students will remember him fondly for his persistent teaching style, his humor and wit, and his generosity.
I will miss you, John. Go in peace, old friend.

So very sorry for your loss of Johnny. We were next door neighbors in Perry when I was young. I remember he and Mike as really nice boys and somewhat mischievous! His sweet mama made the best homemade yeast rolls and bread that she would slice and spread butter on and call me over to “sample”. We are all saddened by the loss of our college friend. John was the funniest in our running group. We willingly went along with spiking prop drinks with hot sauce then waiting with bated breath for the guys on stage to drink them and struggle to get their lines out. Then those fun cafeteria food fights. You should have seen how angelic he acted when being interrogated by the college cafeteria manager with chocolate pudding we’d managed to put down his pants. The many dances we attended, birthdays & Christmases we shared, cookouts he held, weekends at his parents, the tragedy of losing Mike - John was an important treasure to us. Our hearts are heavy. I’m so glad that he had his precious daughter, Sophia. She has his dimpled chin.
