HERBERT F. MOORE's Obituary
PERRY –
Herbert Franklin Moore passed away peacefully on Friday, March 13, 2026. He was 98 years old. Private Graveside Services will be held in Perry Memorial Gardens where he will be laid to rest with his beloved wife in the Freedom Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Perry Presbyterian Church, 1111 S. Second Street, Perry, GA 31069.
Herbert was born on July 1, 1927, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Max and Katie Moore. He celebrated his first birthday in Perry, Georgia, where the family had just relocated and where he lived his entire life. After graduating from Perry High School, Herbert proudly served his country in the U. S. Army. Upon his return from the military, he earned an associate’s degree from Draughton School of Business in Atlanta and entered the business world. His love for Perry and developing his community was evident. He owned and operated MM&B with fellow businessmen W.G. Mullins and Jackie Beavers, developing Perry’s homes and neighborhoods as a Real Estate Broker. Eventually, Herbert transitioned into the insurance business, invited his sons to join him as they finished college, and created a legacy that families in Perry and beyond have come to trust and depend on for their various business and personal insurance needs. A long-time member of Perry Presbyterian Church, Mr. Moore was an Elder Emeritus.
Herbert was preceded in death by his parents; his loving and devoted wife of nearly 60 years, Joan Moore; his son, Johnny Moore; and his brother-in-law, Otto Weitzenkorn.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Herbert are his sons, Dan Moore (Ann), Mike Moore (Amy), and Bob Moore (Kerri), all of Perry; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; his sister, Elaine Moore Weitzenkorn; and his daughter-in-law, Vivian Moore.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at https://www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
