Born on February 5, 1948, in Perry, Georgia, Ed was the cherished son of the late Ed and Carolyn Pierce. In 1976, he married Debbie McCown, embarking on a 48-year adventure. They moved throughout the United States for Ed’s work but came home to Perry. The couple was blessed with three children – Matt, Ben, and Amy. Ed passed away peacefully at his home in Perry with his loving wife at his side. He was born and raised in Perry, where he enjoyed playing football and basketball for Perry High School. He continued his education at Auburn University, earning a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. With a career spanning 41 years in the cement industry, Ed's expertise and dedication were well-recognized. He retired from Ash Grove Cement in 2013 and returned to his beloved hometown of Perry.
Those who knew Ed will remember his deep love for his family and his unwavering passion for Auburn University football. His spirit and joy for life touched everyone around him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Left behind to cherish the memories they made with Ed are his faithful and devoted wife, Debbie Pierce of Perry; his children, Matthew Pierce (Britenae) of Seattle, WA, Benjamin Pierce (Samantha) of Wichita, KS, and Amy Huke (Cody) of Oak Grove, MO; and his 11 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Jon Pierce (Pam), and his sister, Tony Herrin, both of Perry, and several nieces and nephews.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
