EDITH SHARON (NYE) LONG(1928 -2016)Edith Sharon Nye Long, 88 a long time resident of Saraland, AL passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Lynnwood Nursing Home.Ms. Long was born in Emerton, MD on January 19, 1928 to John and Celia Nye. Ms Long dearly loved her children, visiting and laughing withfriends and family, playing pinochle, and eating good food (especially seafood). Ms Long is preceded in death by her parents, John & Celia Nye, two brothers, Lloyd Nye & Travers Nye and one sister Faith Ogan.She is survived by her ex husband, Joseph Long; one daughter, Sheila & Harmon Mizel, three sons, Arthur & Marsha Long, Terry & Sherry Long and David & Dawn Long; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one brother, Beaufort Nye; one sister, Janie & Ray Carney and numerous nieces and nephews.Services will be held at Serenity Funeral Home, Theodore, AL. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. until the 10:00 a.m.Funeral Service with Father John Lynes officiating. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery on Dauphin Island Pkwy.Pallbearers will be her beloved grandsons; Jason Long, Josh Long and Jacob Long and her nephews, Gideon Carney (who always held a special place in her heart). Ryan Carney and Greg Nye.
