DORIS HUDSON FOUNTAIN's Obituary
PERRY –
Doris Hudson Fountain, 88, passed away at Atrium Navicent Health in Macon on Monday, August 8, 2022. Services will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at Second Memorial Baptist Church in Perry. Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m., and the Funeral with Rev. Jim Perdue and Rev. Jimmy Gauthier officiating will begin at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be in Perry Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Second Memorial Baptist Church, 1845 Kings Chapel Road, Perry, GA 31069.
Doris was born in Unadilla on November 13, 1933, and was the daughter of the late Bright Richard and Florence Bartlett Hudson. She graduated from Unadilla High School and married the love of her life, Carl Fred Fountain. The couple moved to Perry to work and raise their family. Mrs. Doris was a clerk at the Houston County Board of Education and always enjoyed meeting and working with administrators and teachers from various schools throughout Houston County. After thirty-eight years of marriage, Carl became ill and passed away at a young age. Doris continued working with a broken heart, staying busy and allowing those around her to comfort and encourage her. Eventually, she retired after thirty years of service with HCBOE. A charter member and long-time faithful member, Doris was very active in the church that she dearly loved, Second Memorial Baptist Church. Over the years, she developed and maintained flowers in her yard, nurturing them to grow and bloom, especially her treasured roses. Her passion in life was her family, and spending time with them was always her favorite thing to do.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of thirty-eight years, Carl Fountain; her siblings, Hazel Spradley and John Hudson; her son-in-law, Wayne Talton; her daughter-in-law, Rhonda Fountain.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Mrs. Doris are her children, Kathy Fountain Talton of Kathleen, and Richard “Fred” Fountain of Perry; her grandchildren that lovingly referred to her as “Granny,” Chris Joyner (Robin), Ryan Talton (Amber), Andy Fountain (Brittni), Leslie Talton Cox (Kenny), and A.C. Talton (Ashtan); her great-grandchildren, Brooke Arrington (Robert), Caitlynne Cox, Luci Talton, Sara Talton, Braxton Talton, Stella Talton, Parker Anne Cox, Reagan Talton, and Rhett Talton; her great-great-grandchildren, Drake Arrington and Bennett Arrington; her sister, Lucille Corlee (James); her brothers, Harold “Bud” Hudson (Carren) and Leroy Hudson (Virginia); and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
