In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to the donor’s favorite charity or the Bread From Heaven Food Pantry, Christ Chapel, 2288 Moody Road, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
Debbie was born in Lexington, Kentucky, to the late Joe A. Gayle, Sr., and the late Connette Robinson Gayle. When Debbie was in first grade, the Gayle family moved to Perry, Georgia, and she never left. She went to school in Perry, and when she was in seventh grade at Perry Junior High School, Debbie met the love of her life, Isaac Davis, and the two were together most of their lives. She graduated from Perry High School with the Class of 1965 and attended Georgia Southwestern. She soon became a wife and homemaker, creating a warm and welcoming environment for her and Isaac to welcome children, which they did several years after they married. As their children grew and went to grade school, Debbie enjoyed working for a few years as the manager of a Christian bookstore in Downtown Perry. As time passed, she worked as a Home Health Assistant to families in need of someone to help care for and be with their sick or elderly loved ones. When her schedule was too full, Debbie even helped families find other people willing to work and assist where needed.
Debbie was a member of Christ Chapel in Warner Robins for over twenty years. She actively volunteered in the Bread From Heaven Food Pantry at the church, and often cooked breakfast there. She was a wonderful wife to Isaac; they embraced life together and held hands everywhere they went. As a mother and grandmother, she followed in the footsteps of her own mother, leaving a legacy to her children and grandchildren of love, kindness, volunteerism, and generosity. Debbie loved the Lord, embraced her church and church family, adored her own family, and treasured time spent with each and every one of them.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Debbie are her loving and devoted husband of fifty-one years, Isaac Davis of Perry; her children, Heather Birchfield (Michael) of Warner Robins, and Chuck Davis (Jamie) of Warner Robins; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Birchfield, M.J. Birchfield, and Zion Davis; her brothers, Joe Gayle, Jr. (Sylvia) of Atlanta, and Dr. Richard “Dick” Gayle (Melissa) of Augusta; her sister-in-law, Pat Gayle of Marietta; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Currey Gayle.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
