Dan was born in Moultrie, Georgia, to the late George Henry Miller, Sr. and Evelyn Libby Miller. He was a self-employed Painting Contractor, owning Miller Paint Company for many years in Augusta. Dan was a lifetime member of Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church, serving for many years at the church in Evans, Georgia, where he organized and operated the Evans Youth Center. He volunteered in this position, opening the church gym every day, providing a safe and Christian location for children and teens to spend time together after school. Through this program, Dan found great joy and touched many lives over the years and, most likely, kept many of them out of trouble. Dan also enjoyed playing softball with the church league in many of those early years. Dan also started a Sunday School ministry in Norfolk, Virginia, and continued that ministry when he moved to Evans, Georgia, spreading the love of Jesus to children as he would pick them up and take them to Sunday School and Church. Upon retirement, Dan and his beloved wife of 50 years, Pat, moved to Perry to Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church Campground to be with friends and family. His family is very thankful that Dan was cared for in his final days by Haley and Mona at Serenity Place Hospice House in Dublin. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, George Henry Miller, Jr.; his teenage daughter, Kimberly Lisa Miller; and his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Patricia Ann Miller.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Dan are his daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Mike Grandy of Aiken, SC; his grandchildren, Brandon King of North Augusta, SC, and Erin Grandy of Aiken, SC; his sisters, Doris Dempsey (Jay) and Lily Miller, both of Perry; his brother, Mike Miller of Suffolk, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
