CHUCK REYNOLDS's Obituary
PERRY –
Charles Leighton “Chuck” Reynolds, 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 30, 2023, after a brave battle with cancer. Graveside Services with full military honors will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at 12 Noon at the Pavilion in Andersonville National Cemetery, Andersonville, Georgia. Flowers will be gratefully accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
Chuck was born in Newark, Delaware, on February 5, 1938, to the late Clarence and Ethel Reynolds. He graduated from the University of Miami with a Criminal Justice degree and also earned a Law Degree from the University of Miami. He proudly served our country in the U. S. Army, earning the rank of Captain after ten years. Upon his return from the military, Chuck entered local law enforcement, accepted a position with the Miami Police Department, and attended the FBI National Academy. Once seasoned as an officer, he worked his way into leadership. After a short time as Police Chief in Sebastian, Florida, Chuck accepted the position as Chief of Police in Port St. Lucie, Florida. He worked hard to grow the department from 60 officers to 130 officers by the time he retired. When his trek as a policeman began, so did his service as a “Coasty,” where he proudly served in the Coast Guard Reserves for the next 22 years. Chuck was a member of the Masons, Village Lodge #315 in Miami Shores, Florida, for 62 years. He was a great man with integrity who was well-respected. He enjoyed playing golf and loved to travel, from across the country to across the seas, exploring in his RV and cruising on various ships. He moved to Perry, Georgia, in 2007, and was a member of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Clarence L. Reynolds; his wife, Beverly Anderson Reynolds; and his faithful, 4-legged friend, Jake.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Chuck are his children, Bob Reynolds (Debbie) of North Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Rick Reynolds (Shannon) of Perry, Georgia, and Becky Herdocia (Robert) of Miami Shores, Florida; his grandchildren, Cari Reynolds Roberts (Cal), Cassidy Reynolds, Joseph Herdocia, and Audriana Herdocia; his step-grandson, Zachary Pedonti; and his beloved, devoted companion of 15 years, Shirley Simone.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
