PERRY –
Charles Otis “Charlie” Greene, 61, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at his home. Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Exchange Church. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m., and the Service will begin at 4:00 p.m. A private burial will take place in Perry Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Georgia Baptist Children’s Home at Baxley, 9420 Blackshear Highway, Baxley, GA 31513, georgiachildren.org .
Charlie was born in Columbus and grew up in Perry. He graduated from Perry High School in 1982. Charlie was a firefighter with Perry Fire Department for nearly ten years. He worked with Flint Energies in various positions including meter reader, collector, and safety foreman. Charlie ended his career as a street foreman with the City of Perry, from where he retired. He was a long-time member of Exchange Church, formerly Second Memorial Baptist Church. Charlie was always involved at church, serving in multiple leadership roles. Through the years, he striped the parking lot many times, installed the playground, and cut the grass whenever it was needed. He was always delighted to visit and volunteer at the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home in Baxley with church friends. Charlie had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making others laugh. He especially enjoyed watching the Georgia Bulldogs play football. But his greatest passion in life was his family. He never missed a sporting event that involved his children or grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Watson Otis Greene and Alma Reynolds Greene; and his wife’s parents, William T. “Bill” Montgomery and Emily Allen Montgomery.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Charlie are his loving and devoted wife of thirty-seven years, Leanne Montgomery Greene of Perry; his children, Will Greene and Savannah McLeod (Joe), both of Perry; his grandchildren, Isabelle Greene, Landon McLeod, and Josie McLeod; and several nieces and nephews.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
