For well over 20 years a group of us fellows drank coffee and held court in the local Waffle Houses in Perry. We saw each other several times a week and talked of things both private and public. We rarely missed a week without running into each other. Almost every week, someone would ask Chuck about some problems they were having with some vehicle. Trucks, cars, tractors, combines. If it had a wheel and it rolled, Chuck Tharpe knew something about it. He was a Master at his craft and was always willing to help. Due to health issues and deaths, our meetings ended several years ago but we really had a good time over the years. Chuck Tharpe was a good man and we will miss him.
