CHARLES HYDE KEZAR SR.'s Obituary
ELKO –
Charles Hyde Kezar, Sr., passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 12, 2021, after a brief illness. Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in Orange Hill Cemetery in Hawkinsville with the Reverend Wayne Holcomb officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to the Shriners Healthcare for Children.
Charles was born in Elko to the late Hollis Smith Kezar, Sr., and the late Sarah H. Kezar. A graduate of Perry High School, he was a lifelong resident of Elko, enjoyed farming, was a Mason and a Shriner. Charles worked as the rural mail carrier in Elko and retired after nearly thirty years. After enjoying retirement for a short time, he accepted a position with Houston County Board of Education driving a school bus. The young students he would transport every day loved him, and he enjoyed his job. When Charles celebrated his 80th Birthday, he finally realized he should slow down and enjoy what was left of his life. So, he retired, once again, after eighteen years with HCBOE. He was a member of Elko Baptist Church for most of his life.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of fifty years, Kate Nipper Kezar; his son, Ed Kezar; his brother, Hollis Kezar, Jr.; and his sisters, Frances Hadden and Louise Bembry.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Charles are his son, Chuck Kezar of Elko; his granddaughters, Katie Kezar, Hollee Kezar, and Hydee Kezar, all of Elko; a great-granddaughter, Sarah Kezar; and several nieces and nephews.
Please sign the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
