Carolyn Scharff Etheridge's Obituary
Carolyn Scharff Etheridge, 96, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 28, 2014. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Perry. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery and will be private. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2014, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home.
Mrs. Etheridge was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She moved to Middle Georgia when her father came to work in the area. After high school, she attended Shorter College, Duke University, and Mercer University. She married the love of her life, C. Cooper Etheridge, and they settled in Perry. A homemaker for many years, she worked dilligently to create the perfect home in which to raise her children. Once they became school age, she worked as a secretary at First Baptist Church of Perry for over 10 years. Later, she took a job with Houston County Department of Family and Children Services as a Case Worker. A long-time member of First Baptist Church of Perry, she was also a member of the Jewell Sunday School Class. She was a charter member of the Delphian Club, a ladies' civic organization in Perry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Byron and Doris Bookwalter Scharff; and her beloved husband of 38 years, Cooper Etheridge.
Left to cherish the memories of Mrs. Etheridge are her children, Charlie Etheridge (Cindy) of Marietta, Carol Etheridge Fisher of Perry, and Byron Etheridge (Judy), also of Perry; 6 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
