I attended Pearl Stephens Elementary School in Macon from 1950-1957 and while I did not have Mrs. Williams for a teacher, I remember her fondly. My mother, Thelma Goss, began teaching at Pearl Stephens in 1953 and became good friends with Mrs. Williams. Unfortunately, they lost contact when Mrs. Williams moved to Alabama, and then Mother passed away in 2005. I recently came across a cookbook compiled of mimeographed recipes from teachers at Pearl Stephens in 1966 including one from Mrs. Williams entitled "Camilla's 'You Name It' or 'A Simpleton's Chicken'" Please accept my deepest sympathy at her death. Mrs. Camilla will always have a special place in the hearts of our family. She was a GREAT asset to Bonaire United Methodist Church where she faithfully served as organist and choir director for many years.May you find comfort in happy memories of this one who was so very special in your lives, and the lives of a host of others.
Offering our deepest condolences during this difficult time.
Mrs. Williams was my first grade teacher at Pearl Stephens in Macon in 1958-1959. She was my favorite teacher!! In the good old days when you could discipline children, I can remember her paddling my hand because I drew in the wrong box. That always stuck with me...and I didn't do it again! She lived on Napier Ave which was on our way home and we often took her home after school. I had no idea she was still living. May she rest in peace.
Camilla (Mimmie as we know her)is singing and playing piano with the angels! All of us have so many stories and memories that we will hold forever. Mimmie and I shared the love of ancestry and she was thrilled when Kathy (my sister) and I took our mother, Katherine Woodard ,to see her and shared my ancestry books. She said she stayed up almost all night looking at them.Mimmie has a special place in all our hearts. God bless us all!Donna Woodard HaginBrunswick, Georgia
Sincerest condolences to her family! She was such a great 1st grade teacher!
