Annette Buchanan Johnson, 76, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2018. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Perry Presbyterian Church. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Perry Presbyterian Church, P. O. Box 574, Perry, GA 31069 or Heart of Georgia Hospice Inpatient Unit, 1120 Morningside Drive, Perry, GA 31069. Annette was born in Greensboro, North Carolina, to the late George W. and Ruth Baldwin Buchanan. She received degrees from Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina; Hamburg University in Oakbrook, Illinois; and Mercer University in Macon. While she was a homemaker for many years, Annette was also the owner/operator of several McDonald’s restaurants and the Cozy Covey Farm. Music was one of the great joys in her life. She began piano lessons at age 7 and continued lessons for ten years. She moved to Perry in 1972, joined Perry Presbyterian Church, and became their church pianist, which she enjoyed doing for fourteen years. After studying under Dr. David Halquist at Mercer for 2 years, she decided to expand into vocal production and joined the Sweet Adelines International Chorus, Wings of Harmony Chapter, and later auditioned and was accepted into the Song of Atlanta Chorus in Atlanta. She sang for several years a cappella four-part harmony music with both choruses, which she loved doing with all of her heart. Annette was a member of the Beltista Club of Perry. Survivors include her children, Kathi Templeton James and William C. “Billy” Brewer, Jr.; her grandchildren, Samuel James, Maggie James, and Patrick James; and her brother, David Buchanan. Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
