Life Legacy
PERRY-Willis Harrison, 94, died December 28, 2016, at his home. Funeral services will be held at Perry Presbyterian Church at 3:00 p.m. on December 30, 2016. Family will greet friends at the conclusion of the service at the church. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Perry Presbyterian Church, 1111 S. Second Street, Perry, GA 31069.Willis, always proud to be a native of Houston County, was born March 31, 1922, in Grovania to Florence Boone and Grover Cleveland Harrison, who are both deceased. Willis was the devoted husband for over 60 years to Florence Smith Harrison, who is now deceased. In addition to his parents and wife, Willis is predeceased by his sisters, Laura Frances Harrison and Martha Harrison Odom; and his brother, Harold Harrison. Willis was a graduate of Perry High School, where he played varsity basketball on one of "Coach Staples" earliest teams. He was actively involved in Perry sports and was a former president of the Perry Football Boosters Club. He was a sports enthusiast and remained an avid follower of all Georgia Bulldog sports teams until his death. He was a dedicated member of Perry Presbyterian Church having served in a number of supporting roles in the church through the years. Willis is survived by four brothers and sisters and their spouses, Freda and Larry Hoff of Macon, Florence and Curtis Brown of Honolulu, HI, June and Benny Harris of Warner Robins, and Charles and Carolyn Harrison of Grovania. Additionally, he is survived by eleven nieces and nephews. Special thanks are given by the family to Dr. Bruce Sampson and also to the team of long term care givers, Gladys Alexander, Linda Marshall, and Ann Collier.Mr. Harrison was an insurance man, starting work early with Gulf Life Insurance Company as a salesman. Through difficult years of change and challenge, he climbed the ladder and became a Sales Manager for Life Insurance of Georgia. He remained in this position until his retirement after forty years of faithful service. Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com.
