Mrs. Willie Etta Strickler's Obituary
Willie Etta Strickler, age 90, was called home December 15, 2015 to continue her praise and worship of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Born on April 22, 1925 to Decatur Bully and Willie Odell Bosarge. She worshiped most of her life at the First Church of God located near her home in Bayou La Batre. Most recently she attended, First Evangelical Methodist Church on Padgett Switch Road. She was a lifetime resident of Bayou La Batre, AL. This was the only home she ever knew and fully enjoyed the small town in which she was born. The most important thing in her life was caring for and nurturing her family. We all love her deeply and will surely miss and think about her everyday. Wille Etta enjoyed many other things on this earth, but her passion was crocheting, knitting, and quilting. She spent days and sometimes weeks working on beautiful works of art for her family and friends. We will cherish her handmade gifts of love for our lifetime. We will all miss her greatly, but have comfort in knowing she has made it to her final home and resting place. This world was a better place when she was here, but now, residents of Heaven have the privilege of hearing her lovely singing voice and joining with her as she gives all the praise and glory to God.The family would like to acknowledge Ms. Kim Washington from Saad Healthcare for her compassionate care during Willie Etta’s last days. She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Johnny Strickler, five children - Kent Strickler, John Etta Bosarge, Alden Strickler, Karen Strickler, Edson Strickler, 12 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild, and many other family and friends that were all precious to her. Visitation will be held at First Evangelical Methodist Church at 11329 Padgett Switch Road starting at 12:00 PM Monday, December 21. Funeral services to follow at 2:00 PM. Immediately after services at the church, interment will be held at Oddfellows Cemetery, located on Hwy 188 in Bayou La Batre. Condolences may be offered at www.SerenityFuneralHome.com.
