WARNER ROBINS-William Boyd Martin, 78, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at his daughter's home in Ft. Valley. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Perry immediately following the service. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the service, from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. Flowers will be gratefully accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Power Over Parkinson's, 3797 Northside Drive, Macon, GA 31210.Mr. Martin was born in Gordon, Georgia, to the late Bernard and Mary Brooks Martin. A 1956 graduate of Wilkinson County High School, he proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1960 as an Airman 1st Class and was stationed at Harlingen Air Force Base in Harlingen, Texas. Mr. Martin received a Bachelor of Business from Georgia College in 1975. For a few years, he was a teacher at Crandall College in the Business School, and also worked during tax season with H&R Block preparing tax returns. In 1966, Boyd began his career as a Budget Analyst with Civil Service at Robins Air Force Base from where he retired after over 30 years of service. He and his late wife, Claire, lived in Warner Robins for over 40 years. They enjoyed many years of fun, bowling with friends, including Donald and Ruby Wilson, and other members of the Tuesday Night Mixers at Houston Lanes Bowling Center. The couple moved to their daughter's home in Ft. Valley in 2015. Boyd was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Frances McCook; his brother, Marshall Martin; and his loving wife of 54 years, Claire Grimes Martin.Left to cherish the memories of Boyd are his daughter and son-in-law, Tamara and Kevin Sapp; his son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Annette Martin of Byron; his grandchildren, Brooks Wethington, Ashten Martin, Brenden Martin, Presten Martin, Kasey Wethington, Matthew Sapp, Sarah Sapp, Austin Burnette, and Ashlee Burnette; one great-grandchild, Hunter Sapp; and several nieces and nephews.Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com.
