William Edward Lewis' Obituary
William Edward Lewis was born on February 20, 1937 to the late Vacy and Beatrice Lewis in Prichard, AL. At an early age he learned to play the trumpet and was a member of the Cassinett Jazz Band. The band played many “gigs” throughout Alabama and Mississippi. William “PIP” was an active member in the band all while attending Mobile County Training School. After graduation he moved to Chicago and began working for Braniff Airlines. He would later meet and marry Marguerite Radford, who has preceded him in death. After 25 years of work and travel, William would change career and become a long distance trucker with Metropolitan Trucking until his retirement. William was friendly to all. He was a great “philosopher of life” and an avid sports fan. He truly will be missed by all. William leaves to cherish his memories daughter, Debbie Lewis of Chicago, IL, step children, Marguerite Mackey of Charlotte, NC, Donna Rogers of Los Angeles, CA, and Kevin Murray of Chicago, IL, brothers, Don (Del) Lewis of Atlanta, GA and Robert Lewis of San Antonio, TX, sister-in-law, Minnie Bell Lewis of Mobile, AL, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
