William Lesage's Obituary
William (Bill) Norman Lesage, 95, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 after a lengthy illness with Alzheimer's.Bill was born in Comite, LA, on February 27, 1920. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on July 31, 1942, serving in San Diego, CA, Pensacola, FL and Pearl Harbor. He was honorably discharged on November 20, 1945. He worked as an aircraft mechanic at Brookley AFB in Mobile and the U. S. Army Aeronautical Depot Maintenance Center in Corpus Christi, TX, until his retirement on September 27, 1967, after 20 years of federal service. He then worked at the Mobile School Board for a number of years.He is survived by his loving wife and constant companion of 71 years, Tharon Long Lesage, and his three daughters, Twynette Nicholson of Theodore, AL; Sandi Scott (Chuck) of Waco, TX and Tammy Lesage of Ormond Beach, FL. He is also survived by one granddaughter, Tara Simms Hollingsworth (David) of Birmingham, AL; and many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.He is preceded in death by his parents, Marius & Mamie Lesage of Greenwell Springs, LA; his sister and brother in law, Anna Mae & T. D. Allen also of Greenwell Springs; his parents in law, Richmond & Mollie Long of Eight Mile, AL; his son in law, Charles M. Nicholson, and many aunts, uncles and sisters & brothers in law.Bill loved working in his yard with his flowers, especially camellias, and his vegetable garden. He was a long time member of Riverside Baptist Church and a 63 year member of Guy T. Smith Lodge # 893 F. & A. M.Bill was blessed that his daughter Twynette, being local, oversaw his care with love and compassion during his final years. The family would like to extend a special thanks to his caregivers, Lucy Stafford, Kristy Mobley, Lori Huber, Jennifer Bishop, Annette Lockett, Vanity Lockett and Springhill Hospice for their loving care. They became a part of our family. We also appreciate the special members of Riverside Baptist Church and the "God IS Good" Life Class of Cottage Hill Baptist Church for their prayers and support.Visitation will be held at Serenity Funeral Home on July 18, 2015, from 10 AM until 11 AM for family and from 11 AM until 12 PM for friends and associates. A funeral service led by Chaplain Billy Burtt of Springhill Home Health and Hospice will be held in the chapel at 12 PM followed by a graveside service.
