William Franklin 'Billy' Bledsoe's Obituary

William Franklin "Billy" Bledsoe, 83, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Perry United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 18, 2014, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests donations be made to Perry United Methodist Church, Brian Bowen's Snax Sax, 1002 Carroll Street, Perry, GA 31069.
Billy was the son of the late Daniel W. Bledsoe and the late Lillian Adair Bledsoe, and brother to the late Charles Adair Bledsoe and the late Daniel Lewis Bledsoe. A lifelong native of Perry, Billy served in the Armed Forces during the Korean War. He also pitched two seasons for the Valdosta Dodgers. He owned and operated The Swank Shop, a men's clothing store, in Perry for approximately twenty years. Then he worked for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources until his retirement. He was married to the former Jeanne Pierce, also of Perry, for over sixty years. They have two children: William F. "Bill" Bledsoe, Jr. of Perry; and Claire B. Postell (Andy) of Cartersville, Ga. He was the proud grandfather of Wade Bledsoe, Josh Bledsoe, Lathem Postell, and Lydia Postell.
Billy and Jeanne have been long time active members of Perry United Methodist Church, where they were married.
