Wanda Denney Bartlett's Obituary
PERRY- Wanda Denney Bartlett, 81, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018. The family will visit with friends on Friday, August 10, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at Marshallville Baptist Church with the Funeral Service immediately following, with the Funeral Service starting at 2:00 p.m. A private burial will be held in Marshallville City Cemetery. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to Heart of Georgia Hospice, 1120 Morningside Drive, Perry, GA 31069. Wanda was born in Hogansville to the late Robert Denney and the late Velma Zimmerman Anderson on April 26, 1937. A graduate of Hogansville High School, she married her high school sweetheart, JW Bartlett, Jr., shortly after graduation. The couple purchased a home in Marshallville where they would raise their family. Mrs. Bartlett was always a wonderful hostess through the years, having birthday parties, Easter egg hunts, and other holiday celebrations every year for 50 years. Wanda and JW loved bowling, and they were in a bowling league for many years. Mrs. Bartlett enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, and they loved what she fed them. She loved babies and children, which was obvious, since she had four children. When she began having grandchildren, she always enjoyed being with them, and they considered her to be the “best grandma.” Wanda had a servant’s heart and was a caregiver for her brother and her husband when they each needed her most. For the past eight years, dementia slowly took over her mind and her memories, but she never forgot the love she had for babies, as her great-grandchildren became one of the few things that could make her smile in the end. Now that her granddaughter, Samantha, has bought the “old Bartlett home” in Marshallville, “Mom Mom” will surely be smiling down from Heaven on every holiday and birthday that is celebrated right there where she raised her own children. Mrs. Bartlett was predeceased by her parents; her loving husband of 50 years, JW Bartlett, Jr.; her brother, Ronnie Denney; and her son, Dennis Bartlett. Left to cherish the memories they made with Mrs. Wanda are her children, Lynn Stafford (Richard) of Marshallville, Mark Bartlett and Ben Bartlett (Von), both of Perry; her grandchildren, Stacy Stafford (Jim Ennis), Daniel Stafford (Summer), Katie Calderon (Jon), Joel Stafford, Matthew Bartlett, Samantha Jones (Barry), Brittany Bartlett, Jonathan Bartlett (Lydia), Jacob Bartlett, Mary Kate Bartlett, Benjaman Bartlett (Teryn), and Rachel Bartlett; twelve great-grandchildren; and her daughter-in-law, Tina Bartlett. Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
