WALTER GLENN MULLINS, III's Obituary
DULUTH, GEORGIA –
Walter Glenn Mullins, III, 66, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. A Graveside Service will be held in Perry, Georgia, on Monday, January 17, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in Perry Memorial Gardens with Reverend Lewis Kiger officiating.
Walter was born on December 27, 1955, (one month before the predicted date of his arrival) in Live Oak, Florida, while his parents were visiting his maternal grandparents for Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. Mullins soon returned with their newborn to Perry, Georgia, where they lived, bringing Walter to raise in the house that would become the Mullins homeplace for decades. After attending schools in Perry, he joined his father (and eventually his brother) in the construction business. For many years, Mullins Construction was a premiere company building houses in and around Perry, including the Camelot Subdivision as well as others, where families settled creating homes for their families. In 1990, Walter moved to Duluth, Georgia, and became involved in the paving industry, and even owned his own company for a while. Walter was great at finding jobs, bidding on contracts, and seeing the paving projects completed with satisfied customers. When his children where younger, he spent a great deal of time with them - watching those early how-to tv shows like “This Old House,” cooking supper, supervising homework, and teaching them how to use a hammer and drive a truck, among other things. Through the years, he always attended his children’s extracurricular activities and even drove the travel teams to games and tournaments when necessary. Walter had a great sense of humor, and relatives proclaim that he made the family events more fun by always making everyone laugh.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, W.G. Mullins, Jr., and Faye Daughtry Mullins.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Walter are his daughter, Stephanie Mullins Moon; his son, Sam Mullins; his grandchildren, Lily Moon and Ethan Moon; his brother, Kim Mullins (Lynn); his sisters, Nancy Mullins Granger and Jane Holt (Ronnie); his nieces and nephews, Amy Stanley, Jill Waters (Kelly), Lauren Mullins, Jennifer Mullins, Matthew Arcos, Adam Arcos, Nicholas Granger, Will Holt, and Jordan Holt (Ali); and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Condolences for the family and funny memories may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry, Georgia, has been entrusted with these arrangements.
