WALLACE LEE GOODROE's Obituary
Wallace Lee Goodroe, 89, passed away at home on Thursday, June 7, 2023, after an extended illness. Wallace was born March 26, 1934, in Unadilla, Georgia to A.Z. & Kate Goodroe. Services will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2023, 12:00 p.m. at Andersonville National Cemetery.
Wallace lived most of his life in Unadilla and Perry, finally settling in Elko, Georgia. He graduated high school while serving in the United States Air Force and served two completed two tours of duty in Vietnam. After 20 years in the Air Force, he retired and worked as a parts delivery truck driver for Hamby Chevrolet, in Perry. Wallace was a 30-year member of the Second Memorial Baptist Church, in Perry, Georgia where he was a dedicated Sunday school teacher.
He was married to the love of his life, Wanda Goodroe for 49 years. Between them they had a big family that enjoyed spending many Christmas and family reunions together.
Wallace was preceded in death by his parents and two of his children; Tommy Goodroe and Christine Daniels both of Omaha, Nebraska.
Left to cherish the memories they made with him are his wife, Wanda Dean Parker Goodroe, children; Debbie Schochenmere of Omaha, NE; Wallace Goodroe Jr. of Cordele, GA; Steven D. Goodroe, of Michigan; and Terry Patat of Elko, GA. He also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
