W. T. JONES's Obituary
PERRY –
William Thomas “W.T.” Jones, Jr., 95, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. All services will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 12 Noon in the Chapel at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 12 Noon. Interment with military honors will begin at 2:00 p.m. in Andersonville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Central GA Marine Corps League #1373, 1345 Radio Loop, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
W.T. was born on February 9, 1928, in Sydney, Florida. He joined the U.S. Marines in 1945 and was honorably discharged in 1949. W.T. worked in the Tampa, Florida, area as a truck driver until the mid-1950’s when he moved to Ashford, Alabama, with his family. He drove a truck for Sunnyland Packing Co. in Dothan, AL, until moving to Georgia in 1964. He operated service stations in the Perry area until 1972, when he opened Jones Garage, from which he later retired. He was a beloved member of The Calvary Way Community Church in Perry.
W.T. was preceded in death by his parents, William T., Sr. and Alice Gray Jones; his siblings, Charles Raymond Jones, Montez McClure, and Jack Jones; his daughter-in-law, Teresa Jones; his older son, William T. “Tommy” Jones, III, and his loving wife of over seventy-three years, Thelma Paul Jones.
W.T. is survived by his younger son, Ronnie Jones (Paula Foshee); three sisters, Dot Gibson, Jerri Ann James (Jack), and Patsy Hawkins (Barry); three grandchildren, Nate Garren (Victoria), Miranda Helms (Scott), and Ashton Kate Harding (Jonathan); several great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
