W H Knox's Obituary
W.H. (Bill) Knox passed away on April 4, 2013 at the age of 83.
Mr. Knox was a native of Mobile, Alabama and had lived in Brunswick for more than 40 years prior to moving to Burke County in 2010.
He is survived by his three children: Catherine Knox Fowler and her husband Dan of Waynesboro; William Matthew Knox and his wife Patricia of Bedford, Va., and Paulette Knox Tompkins and her husband Lee of Perry; seven grandchildren: Elizabeth Fowler Brady, Mary Fowler Boyce, Daniel Thomas Fowler, Jeremy Elijah Knox, Sarah Jean Knox, Caitlin Ross Tompkins and Caroline Knox Tompkins, one great grandchild, Ruth Turner Brady and one brother: Tanner David Knox of Hahira.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Deneene Turner Knox and by his parents William Henry and Bennice Irene Tanner Knox; and, by one brother, Stacey Oliver Knox.
Mr. Knox graduated from Murphy High School in Mobile, Alabama in 1946 and obtained degrees from the University of Alabama in 1953 and the University of North Carolina in 1970. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He spent his career in health administration.
Mr. Knox served in the US Army. He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Blythe United Methodist Church.
A private memorial service will be held in Brunswick at a later date. Memorial gifts can be sent to Blythe UMC, 307 Church Street, Blythe, Georgia 30805.
