Vesta V. Shelnut, 78, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at her residence with her loving family by her side. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 22, 2013, at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home with entombment in Freedom Mausoleum in Perry Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. Reverend Sidney McLeod will officiate. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2013, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to Heart of Georgia Hospice or to the donor's favorite charity.
Mrs. Shelnut was born in Harrelson County and was the daughter of the late Charlie and Gladys Morris Shelnutt. She had worked in textiles at Kellwood and The Bibb Company for over 30 years. She was a graduate of Byron High School and was a member of the Upper Room Fellowship. Her activities included reading books, especially the Bible. She was preceded in death by six brothers, Horace, Burnell, Lloyd, Roy, Louis, and Pete.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Donna Saint-John (Mark) of Perry; her siblings, Zettie Stewart, Alice Miles, and Walter Shelnutt (Kay).
