Toni Marie Nicholas' Obituary
Toni "Rita" Marie Silvers Nicholas of Mobile, Al was born on October 18, 1946, and gained her angel wings in heaven on October 27, 2016. Rita's love, warmth, and compassion left an imprint on the hearts of all who knew her. She was understanding, affectionate, and sympathetic as she exuded a motherly presence towards everyone she cared for. She loved gathering around the kitchen table for her morning coffee and cigarette while talking with her family. She enjoyed family poker games, weekly visits to the casinos where she played the slot machines, and time spent with her special loved ones. Rita was never a materialistic woman, as she took pride in her family and the close bond she shared with them. She showed true strength and grace as she fought and conquered many obstacles throughout her life, including overcoming cancer as a young mother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, David Nicholas, Sr of Mobile; father, Clarence "C.F." Silvers of Mobile; and brothers, Bobby Brannon and Donald Silvers. The legacy of her life is carried on by numerous family members as she is survived by her mother Gracie May Brannon (92) of Mobile; 3 children: David (Bobbie Jo) Nicholas, Jr.; Daniel (Bernadette) Nicholas, Sr.; and Rhonda (Donnie) Thrasher, Sr; 10 grandchildren: Hayley (Jason) Lawshe; Kevin Flowers; Britany (Thomas) Bendemire; Daniel (Britany) Nicholas, Jr; Jackie Fowler; Jesse Holley; Kelsey (Hunter) Nicholas; Chyna Fowler; Donald Thrasher, Jr; and Samara Waite; 10 great-grandchildren: Brysen, Bentley, Mackenzie, Cheyenne, Brennan, Braelyn, Gunner, George, Chloe, and Zoey; 8 brothers and 2 sisters: Carlton (Louise) Silvers; Melvin Silvers; Ray (Brenda) Silvers; Junior (Minnie) Silvers; Kathleen Nabb; Edward Lee (Ellie) Silvers; Ricky Silvers; Frances Brannon; Kenneth Brannon; and Ronald (Donna) Silvers.Paul Bearers include: Mark Holley, Jason Lawshe, Frank Parden, Johnathon Lambert, Jimmy Richardson, and Melvin Silvers, Jr. Honorary Paul Bearers: Timothy Holley and Zach Sullivan.Funeral arrangements handled by Serenity Gardens Funeral Home. Visitation: October 8, 2016 from 4-7 pm. Graveside services: October 9, 2016 from 1-3 pm.
