TOMMY SLEDGE's Obituary
PERRY –
Tommy Winslow Sledge, 71, passed away unexpectedly and went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 18, 2021. Everyone is invited to participate in a safe-distance visitation by remaining in the comfort of your vehicle as you drive through the circle driveway at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home to express love and support for his family on Friday, January 22, 2021, from 4:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held at Perry Memorial Gardens on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend David Fisher officiating. Considering the current Covid pandemic, please wear a mask for the protection of everyone there.
Tommy was a lifelong resident of Houston County. He grew up in Elko and graduated from Perry High School in 1969. He worked in the Shipping Department at Richmond Cold Storage for years until he took a similar position with Linage Logistics, a contractor for Perdue Farms. Tommy enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Haynesville. He loved his family and friends dearly, and always showed concern for everyone else through the years. Tommy retired after suffering a brain injury from an accident in 2018 and has been tediously cared for by his son and daughter-in-law since then. He had been such a blessing to others all of his life, and his reward was received when his family took care of his needs during the final years of his life. He spent many hours watching the Atlanta Braves and the Atlanta Falcons on tv, as well as wrestling matches.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Tommy are his son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Michele Sledge of Hawkinsville; his grandchildren, Taylor Sledge, Tyler Sledge, Kaylee Sledge, and Caden Sledge; his great-grandchildren, Mason, Cason, and Jakob; several cousins; and other extended family members.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Horace Sledge and Grace Fowler Sledge.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
