Tina Louise Vogtner's Obituary
Tina Louise Gilbert Vogtner passed away Monday, October 27th, 2014. Born July 12, 1955, Tina graduated from W. P. Davidson high school in 1973 and later attended North Florida Community College, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She went on to attend Florida State University where she graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice. She worked for many years in the insurance industry for Fireman’s Fund, Allstate and ITT Hartford. She retired in 2004. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a member of Dayspring Baptist Church and cherished her relationship with God. Tina loved movies, the beach and watching college football. On most Saturdays, she could be found cheering on both the Crimson Tide and the Florida State Seminoles. She had a genuine zest for life and wanted everyone to be as happy. Her family and friends will remember her as an eternal optimist, someone who believed in the goodness of people. She had a huge heart and never gave up on those she loved, because she knew from firsthand experience that it’s possible to overcome anything if there’s someone in your life who’s always got your back. And if you were lucky enough to be part of her family or group of friends, you could always count on her to be that person. Tina greeted everyone, those she knew and even complete strangers, with a smile that could lift even the heaviest heart. She loved to laugh but was not afraid to cry. She loved to stay in touch with her family and friends and would do that through every avenue she had, whether it was a text, a phone call or Facebook posts and messages. And she never, ever, let you forget that she loved you. She will be missed, but there’s no way she will ever be forgotten. Tina was preceded in death by her parents, Merlyn J. (Bill) and Fleta Wilson Gilbert. She is survived by: her husband, Earle Frazer Vogtner; her daughters Tonya Helms, Richmond, VA, Brandy Oliver, Mobile, AL, Tabitha Thomas, Mobile, AL, and Mary Oliver, Ft. White, FL; her sons Charles E. Oliver and Carl F. Oliver of Fort White, FL, Chris Vogtner, Andrew Vogtner and Josh Vogtner of Mobile, AL; her granddaughters Allison Kathryn Helms of Richmond, VA, Gabrielle Pantiga, Terri-Ann Pantiga and Natasha Pantiga of Panama City, FL; her brothers Andrew Gilbert of Nashville, TN, Peter Gilbert of Minneapolis, MN, John Gilbert of Mobile, AL and James Gilbert of Chicago, IL. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 30 at Serenity Funeral Home in Mobile. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time.
