Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Perry Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in Perry Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. The family asks that those who have any special memories of Thomas which would benefit his children in remembering their father, please bring these notes to the service. There will be a basket in the foyer at the church to collect them. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Perry Presbyterian Church Music Ministry, 1111 Second Street, Perry, GA 30169 or Christian Counseling Services, 1415 Bass Road, Macon, GA 31210. Thomas was born in Perry, Georgia, to Charles and Nelle Shelton. He graduated from Westfield School in 1983 and received his undergraduate degrees from Middle Georgia College and the University of Georgia. Thomas graduated with a Doctorate of Medical Dentistry degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 1994 and returned to Perry to serve his home community, merging his practice with his twin brother, Louis, in 1999 to form Perry Dental Associates. Dentistry was a primary avenue of ministry for Thomas, where he loved to visit with his patients, particularly veterans. Thomas was also a participant and advocate of the Dental Recovery Network, promoting it to younger colleagues as a representative speaker at the dental college in Augusta. In 1995, Thomas married Bristol Davis, and they joined Perry Presbyterian Church where Thomas has served as both deacon and elder. Since developing a love for music and song-writing through his high school and college years, Thomas has been involved in the music ministry at Perry Presbyterian as a worship leader, a guitarist and singer in the praise band, and an accompanist to many young people learning to offer music in worship. After a three-year battle with brain cancer, Thomas died peacefully in his home, returning to his faithful Savior, Jesus Christ, whose grace and sufficiency he had come to cherish. Left to lovingly remember Thomas are his devoted wife of twenty-two years, Bristol Davis Shelton; his sons, Grant Shelton, Carter Shelton, and Levi Shelton; his daughters, Linden Shelton and Chloe Shelton; his parents, Charles Irby and Nelle Tuggle Shelton; his siblings, Chip Shelton (Sharon), Nancy Shelton McLendon (Sandy), and Louis Shelton (Tesa); and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
