Therlis was born May 15, 1930, to the late Garth Edwin and Minnie Harpe Benson in Seville, GA. As a young girl she was a “left-handed learner” but enjoyed things including shelling peas, singing, reading, crossword puzzles, she was raised to live off the land and proud to say, “they never went hungry”. She graduated from Pitts High School and moved to Perry in 1952 and was a member of Southside Baptist. Therlis was employed by Kellwood, where she worked as a quilting machine operator. She then pursued a nursing degree at Adams Hospital in Cordele, nursing was her career choice.
Therlis was preceded in death by both of her loving husbands, Leland Wilbanks who passed in 1974 and Ben Roberson who passed in 1998. She was also preceded in death by three sons; infant, Jerry R. Wilbanks, in 1956, Wayne Wilbanks, 2012; Robert Wilbanks, 2021, and her parents.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Therlis are her many daughters and sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
