Thelma Jenesta 'Jenny' McLendon's Obituary
PERRY-
Thelma Jenesta "Jenny" McLendon, 82, passed away peacefully on Veterans' Day, Wednesday, November 11, 2015. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church in the Park, 1303 Forest Hill Drive, in Perry. Interment will be private. Flowers will be gratefully accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Perry Volunteer Outreach, 801 Commerce Street, Perry, GA 31069.
Miss Jenny was born in Nashville, Georgia, to the late R.C. and Juanita Thomas Jones. She married the love of her life, Raymond L. McLendon, and became the "proud military wife" at an early age. Together, traveling the country with the U.S. Marines, they raised three daughters, all the while showing them how to serve our country, serve others, adapt to changes, and develop a loving family environment, no matter where they were. The couple moved to Warner Robins in 1975, and in 1981 purchased a small farm, "McLendon's Farm," in Kathleen where they would live out their retirement years spending time and making more memories with their family. Miss Jenny was an active church-goer for many, many years. Later in life, she chose to "attend" church in the comfort of her own home, following many of the nationally known preachers through the various channels of her t.v. For her 80th birthday, her "girls" took her to Shadow Mountain Community Church to experience Dr. David Jeremiah's sermon in person. "Seeing him and meeting him was one of the greatest times of her life," she said. Miss Jenny was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Raymond L. McLendon; a son-in-law, Cliff Stokes; two brothers, Ron Jones and Don Jones; and her sister, Hazel Stebly.
Left to cherish the memories of Grandma Jenny are her daughters, Rae Allen (Chris) of Perkins, OK, Tracie Stokes of Hernando, FL, and Robbie DeMartini (Greg) of Ocala, FL; her brother, Darrell Jones (Margaret) of Powder Springs, GA; her grandchildren, Jennifer Edmunds (Jeff), Clint Stokes, Eric Allen (Marianna), Kelly Allen Perkins (Zach), Ryan Allen, Alex Allen, and Desiree DeMartini; and her great-grandchildren, Austin Raymond Allen, Hayden Perkins, Savannah Allen, and Katherine McRae.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements..
