THELMA LANPHEAR OSGOOD DAVIS's Obituary
HAWKINSVILLE-
Thelma Lanphear Osgood Davis joined her Savior on Friday, July 26, 2024. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 3:00 P.M. at Broad Street Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Waters officiating. Family will greet friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations to be made to Broad Street Baptist Church, 285 Broad Street, Hawkinsville, GA 31036.
Thelma was born to George William Osgood and Iva Ida Lanphear on February 7, 1939 in the small town of Indian Lake, New York. She spent her entire childhood in Indian Lake and graduated from Indian Lake High School.
Thelma had a strong love for her family, and showed her three sons endless love and support as she raised them. She also instilled a love for Christ in her boys as a fervent reader of the scriptures throughout their entire lives. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a fiercely loving, independent, and strong woman who never shied from her sharing her thoughts with those who were close to her.
Though Thelma was proud of her small town roots, she joyfully led an adventurous life with her family. Prior to her moving to Georgia, she lived all over the world. England, Lebanon, Cyprus, and Brooklyn, New York, were all places she was proud to call home. One of her most treasured memories from her time abroad was her experience riding camels among the Egyptian Pyramids.
In her later years, Thelma was heavily involved in many local charities and ministries. Around the holidays, she excitedly packed boxes for Operation Christmas Child with her family. She also supported the Appalachian Backpack Ministry through prayer and service. In her spare time, she loved cooking for all those who needed a homecooked meal. Even as her own mobility declined, Thelma would cook constantly and then organize others to deliver the food she made. Her servant’s heart endeared her to the Hawkinsville area and beyond, and many lives were touched by Ms. Thelma Davis.
She is preceded in death by her son, Michael Cary Davis.
Left to cherish the memories they made together are her sons, Gary Davis (Lisa) of Bonaire and Greg Davis (Gena) of Macon; a daughter-in-law, Maaw Supaporn of Colorado Springs; her sister, Wilma Luco of Bayonne, New Jersey; 8 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com.
