Stanley "Ed" Edward Wood II's Obituary
Age 51, a resident of Irvington, AL passed away unexpectedly in his home Monday, January 9, 2017. He was preceded in death by his father, Stan Wood, two brothers, Robert Rhett Williams and Scott Wood, and a favorite aunt, Lou Clark. He leaves behind his mother, Roberta Wood, brother, Vann (Sharyn) Wood, sisters, Meg Wood (Matthew Talbott) Fayard, Anne (Matthew) Elwing, several nieces and nephews, and the love of his life, Bobbi Tucker. He was a dedicated public servant. He began his fire service career at the age of 16 as a volunteer with St. Elmo Irvington Fire Department, serving along side his mother and father. He went on to join Prichard Fire Department in March 1984, also working many years at Newman's Ambulance Service . He joined Mobile Fire Rescue Department in January 1990, serving various communities a total of 35 years. Ed devoted his life to service, both professionally and personally. He will be remembered by all who knew him for his giving spirit, hardwork, and community service. Ed loved fully. He loved his family and friends and always made sure you knew it. He was an animal lover. He enjoyed boating, watersports, hunting and fishing. His laugh is unforgettable. If you could make him laugh, you could make his day, but if you heard him laugh, it made your day. Ed leaves us a shining example of perseverance, integrity, kindness, and service towards others. In lieu of flowers. please make a donation to a local animal rescue or the Salvation Army. A memorial service will be held at Serenity Funeral Home on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 10 am with visitation from 9 am until service time.
