SIDNEY MARVIN ELLIOTT's Obituary
PERRY, GA -
Lieutenant Commander Sidney Marvin Elliott, US NAVY (RET), 75, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023, after an extended illness, with his loving family by his side. Funeral Services will be on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home with interment in Andersonville National Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., the hour preceding the funeral service. The family respectfully requests contributions in memory of Marvin Elliott to the donor’s favorite charity.
Mr. Elliott was born in Macon, GA, and was the son of the late Oliver Ashley and Sara Flanders Elliott. He had lived in Perry since 1989 after retiring as a proud Lieutenant Commander with the United States Navy. During his illustrious career, he was commissioned at Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, and served at Key West Naval Station, Moffett Field, California, Navy Air Station, Cecil Field, Pine Castle Bombing Range, near Camp Blanden, and served two tours in Viet Nam. Mr. Elliott was a member of the Warner Robins Church of God and taught a men’s Sunday School Class. He worked for Anchor Glass for a short while and was the plant manager for Tolleson Lumber Company until his retirement. Mr. Elliott, a Ham Radio operator, was an avid hunter who loved canoeing, running, and sailing.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Oliver Elliott and Larry Elliott.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Marvin are his loving wife of forty-five years, Sheila M. Elliott of Perry; his daughter, Cynthia Hockett of Crystal River, Florida; his grandchildren, Jessica Proper of Charlotte, NC, Amber Paris of Crystal River, FL, and Brittany Boutte of Goldsboro, NC; eight great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Richard Elliott of Macon, GA, and Julian Elliott of Tennessee.
