SHIRLEY PERKINS MOSELEY's Obituary
PERRY, GA –
Shirley Perkins Moseley, 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 3, 2022, after an extended illness. A private Graveside Service and entombment will be held by the Ascension Mausoleum in Perry Memorial Gardens with Tyler Winn officiating. A Celebration the Life will be held at First Christian Church at a later date. Details about that service will be announced as soon as they are available. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Family Promise of Greater Houston County, 2762 Watson Boulevard, Warner Robins, GA 31093.
Shirley was born in Independence, Mississippi, to the late Robbie and Sallie Barnett Perkins. As a child, she began reading at a young age and started school a year early, so she could be with her siblings every day whom she loved dearly. Shirley graduated from Bartlett High School in Bartlett, Tennessee, in the Class of 1955. She met and married the love of her life, Charles Robert “Bob” Moseley. A homemaker most of her life, she worked endlessly to create a loving and welcoming environment for her family. Bob’s position as a manager with Procter & Gamble moved them to various company locations around the United States. One of nine Perkins children, Shirley always said she had the “best family,” and continued to say that for the rest of her life having five children of her own. She was an avid reader and quilter, gifting most all of the quilts that she made to her children and grandchildren for special occasions through the years. In 1985, Shirley and Bob settled in Perry, Georgia, becoming one of the first families to join First Christian Church where they were active members. During the 1990’s, Shirley and Bob spent lots of time making crafts and selling their handmade goods at local shows and even craft shows at friends’ homes. When Family Promise of Greater Houston County was formed, Shirley enjoyed visiting with the families that stayed at First Christian Church and was delighted when answered prayers led many of those families to permanent homes. Shirley’s greatest passion in life was being with her family, and they will dearly miss her.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; four sisters; a daughter, Sue Ransom; and her loving and devoted husband of sixty-four years, Bob Moseley.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Shirley are her children, Chuck Moseley (Lisa) of Roswell, Sandra Conkle (John) of Louisville, Kentucky, Tom Moseley (Dena) of Dacula, and Sally Moseley of Marietta; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her sisters, Retha Jackson and Betty Summers, both of Bartlett, TN; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Condolences for the family and special memories of Shirley may be shared in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
