Sheila Alfreda Scott's Obituary
Sheila Alfreda Scott passed from this life on Monday, May 16, 2016 in Mobile, AL. She was born February 28, 1955 in Jackson, Alabama to John D. and Florean Taylor Scott. Sheila moved to Mobile, AL with her parents at an early age and became a member of Franklin Street Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing in the youth choir, attending Sunday School, and Baptist Training Union on Sunday evenings. Sheila graduated from Davidson High School in 1973. After graduation, Sheila worked for Alabama Power Company for several years until she suffered an injury on the job. Sheila later attended Alabama State University in Montgomery, AL where she obtained a degree in Accounting. In 1986 Sheila began a career with the U.S. Department of Transportation Office of Inspector General as an auditor in Forth Worth, TX. She later transferred to Atlanta, GA. Sheila was a high achiever and received numerous awards for her accounting and audit skills. She quickly advanced to the GS-13 level. In 1995 Sheila suffered a double aneurysm which left her disabled. Shortly afterwards, she took an early retirement and returned to Mobile, AL, and reunited with her church home, Franklin Street Baptist Church. Sheila A. Scott leaves to cherish her memory, a loving and devoted Mother, Mrs. Florean Scott; one brother, John H. (Melva) Scott of Raleigh, North Carolina; four sisters, LaRuth (Charles) Shepherd of Southfield, MI, Voncile (James) Cunningham of Mobile, AL, Jacquelyn Whigham of Lilburn, GA, and Katrina Scott of Mobile, AL; five Aunts, Luevenia Scott of Mobile, AL, Velma Primm of Monroeville, AL, Hildra Clarke of Thomasville, AL, Carzetta Scott of Mobile, AL and Ernestine Taylor of Cleveland, Ohio. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and one God Daughter who all loved her dearly. The family will receive guests from 10:30 am until the 11:00 am funeral hour, Rev. Marlon Jones officiating, Interment Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens.
