Sharon Vuxta's Obituary

Sharon Vuxta, 68, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 20, 2020, after an extended illness. Interment will be in Perry Memorial Gardens where the family will have a private gathering to memorialize Sharon. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, GA 31210.
Sharon was born in Rutherford Heights, Pennsylvania, and moved to Perry, Georgia as a teenager when her father was transferred with Civil Service to work at Robins Air Force Base. A 1969 graduate of Perry High School, she earned a National Merit Scholarship and attended University of Georgia. After just one year in Athens, she moved back to Perry to live near her family. She worked with Dr. H. E. Weems in Perry and later Dr. Cassius Stanley in Macon. While she taught business classes at Crandall Junior College and Macon Technical School, Sharon eventually returned to the classroom at Mercer University where she completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting in 1980. She was a Customer Support Analyst with Allied Business Systems for many years until her retirement. Sharon was a Catholic. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Pauline Barnhart Vuxta; a sister, Nan Messersmith; and a brother, Ron Vuxta.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Sharon are her son, Billy Vance of Roberta; her daughter, Deborah Vance of Knoxville; two grandchildren, William Vance and Ashley Vance; a brother, David Vuxta (Denise) of Perry; a sister, Lori Spears (Chuck) of Byron; and several nieces and nephews.
