SARA DEEMER WOODWARD's Obituary
BYRON –
Sara Catherine Deemer Woodward, 96, passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2020. The family will receive friends for viewing and sharing memories on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry. Interment will be in Middletown United Methodist Church Cemetery in Greensburg, Pennsylvania.
Sara was born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, where she went to school and grew up one of eleven children to the late Jesse and Sadie Mensh Deemer. She met and married the love of her life, Jim Woodward, and they moved to California in 1965. A homemaker all of her life, Sara was a caring and supportive mother, creating a loving and inviting home in which to raise their children and serve her family. After Jim’s retirement, the couple moved to Elko, Georgia, where they owned and enjoyed over twenty acres of land. With several ponds and many fruit trees on the property, the couple enjoyed time together, creating a vegetable garden from which they harvested every year. With Jim taking over cooking the meals, Sara was left with time for canning fruits and vegetables from their land, playing the piano, which she loved and had done most of her life. After the loss of her husband, she moved to Byron to be closer to their son.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Mrs. Sara are her loving and devoted children, Charles Woodward (Dotty) and Susan Woodward, both of Byron; her grandchildren, Sara Zumello (Joey) of San Diego, California, and James Woodward (Allison) of Jacksonville, Alabama; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Sara was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; five sisters; and her beloved husband of sixty-nine years, James Richard “Jim” Woodward.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
