Life Legacy
BLUE RIDGE -Sara Ruth Jones Cater, 90, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2017. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be in Evergreen Cemetery immediately following the visitation. Mrs. Cater was the daughter of the late Judge William H. "Willie" Jones and the late Sara Anderson Jones Elliott. She graduated from Perry High School and married the love of her life, Emmett Willis Cater. Always a homemaker, Sara Ruth was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She worked hard to create a kind and gracious environment in which to raise her family. Through the years, she enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and even her great-grandchildren. Mrs. Cater was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Perry and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. A strong, determined lady, Sara Ruth lived independently until she was 86 years old. She was also a faithful and compassionate daughter, as she cared for her elderly mother who lived to the age of 94.In 2005, Sara Ruth left her beloved Perry and moved to Cumming and recently to Blue Ridge. The Willing Workers had loyally mailed her cards through the past few years, and she truly enjoyed receiving them, reflecting on the memories of First Baptist and the close bonds she had with her friends in Perry. Sara Ruth always enjoyed sitting on a porch or a balcony at the beach listening to the waves crash against the shore. Karyn and Amanda, along with their mother, Marilyn, worked tirelessly together making sure their family was always and would always be bonded by love. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Emmett W. Cater; her son, Robert Lee Cater, IV; and her sister, Betty Dunaway. Left to cherish the memories of their "Nana" are her granddaughters, Karyn Cater Westcott (Todd) of Blue Ridge, and Amanda Cater Marsh (Howard) of Atlanta; her great-grandchildren, Cater Johnson, Conner Johnson, Ava Marsh, Garrett Marsh, and Jessica Westcott; her daughter-in-love, Marilyn Cater; her close friends, Jerry and Linda Barnes; her Godson, Josh Barnes; and her cousins, Jerry Pierce of Perry, and Jerry's family. Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
