Sallyann was born on August 26, 1926, in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania, to the late Stanley and Pauline Rowe. After graduating high school in Scottdale, Pennsylvania, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics at Penn State University where she was an active member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. This is where she met the love of her life, Penrose Wolf, and they were later married on December 30, 1949. Sallyann worked for various utility companies as a Home Economist. After some time, she attended Hartford College for Women and eventually received a teaching certificate from St. Joseph College in Connecticut. For eighteen years, Sallyann was a Home Economics teacher for the public school system in New Britain, Connecticut. She was a long-time member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and later became a member of Perry United Methodist Church where was a member of the IHS Sunday School Class.
Sallyann always had a smile on her face and had the sweetest and kindest disposition. She was a friend to all and had a servant’s heart. She believed that she should always serve the Lord by serving others. She did that with perfection in every role she held – as a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a teacher, and a friend to all. The church was always very important to her, and she served her church families with tireless energy.
Sallyann was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Karol W. Niederfringer; and a granddaughter, Shawn Keifer.
Left to cherish the memories they made with Sallyann are her loving and devoted husband of seventy-four years, Penrose Wolf; her daughter, Penny Byrd of Perry; and her son, Penrose R. Wolf (Kris) of Chardon, Ohio; her son-in-law, Alan Niederfringer (Patty) of Avon, Connecticut; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
