Russell was born to the late James Russell and Rodney Eatman Cook in Edmond, Oklahoma in 1950. He was a 1968 graduate of Perry High School and attended both Auburn University and Mercer University. Russell worked as an inspector for the City of Austin in Texas. In his free time, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, travelling – he was especially fond of the northwest, and Russell always made sure that there were photos to share with others.
Left to cherish the memories they shared with Russell are his wife of 49 years, Linda Harris Cook of Haynesville; brothers, Doug Cook, Chuck Cook, both of Austin, Texas, and Mike Cook of Durham, North Carolina.
