We will miss Rudi who always was a close neighbor that treated us as a friend. Thank you Rudi and goodbye,
Graydon and Joyce
Papa Rudi was a fine man and left this world on Friday 25 June. Although a step-father to me, I considered him a father. He made my mother, Barbara, so very happy. He loved, cherished, respected, and took very good care of her. I remember when they met, I had to "interview" Rudi to check if he was suitable to be dating my mother. Needless to say, he "passed the test." They loved to travel together and see all the sights that there are to see on this planet. Until recently, they would go to all "corners" of the globe it seemed. A Christian man and Lutheran by faith, he was active in their church of choice - Central Baptist. Rudi's generosity was without compare, as he would tithe generously and buy large amounts of groceries for the church food pantry to be distributed among the needy in the community. Always looking to lend a hand, if he saw anyone in need he would reach out to them; family, friends, or strangers. Born a proud German, he dearly loved the USA and served his "new" country honorably. Even after leaving active duty military service of over 20 years, he continued to take care of the sick and injured military and their families. After complete retirement, he carried his commitment to the community and was very active in the American Legion. He even gifted me with membership by covering my dues annually, he insisted. I would laugh, as he would get so frustrated with things that did not cooperate the first time! So I was always ready to help him with his technical issues that seemed to develop every time he acquired a new gadget.
This world is a lonelier place without Papa Rudi, but he has gone on to a place much, much finer. I will always have a special place in my heart for him and very fond memories. May his soul rest in peace with the Lord above.
