RUBY LEE GARLAND
1909-2013
One of the oldest citizens of Perry, Georgia passed away on October 9, Ruby Lee Churchwell Garland. She was born in Macon, Georgia on November 15, 1909, and died in Perry, Georgia on October 9, 2013, just a few weeks before her 104th birthday. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elisha Henry Garland, Sr. (Henry); her two sons, Elisha Henry Garland, Jr. (Hank) and William Lafayette Garland (Bill); her two daughters in law, Gerry and Carol; her four siblings W.C., Sidney, and Jimmy Churchwell, and Annie Andel: and her grandson Jim Garland.
Ruby Lee is survived by her daughter, Ruby Ann Bryant of Dallas, Texas; her grandsons, Scott Bryant of Arlington, Texas; Kurt Bryant of Sana Clarita, California; Tim Garland of Boston, Massachusetts; Kim Garland of Seattle, Washington; and Kevin Garland of Tallahassee, Florida; her granddaughters, Sandy Quinones, Cindy Lund, and Debbie Day, all of the Chicago, Illinois area. She is also survived by sixteen great-grandchildren and twenty-two great-great-grandchildren and a large extended family from across the nation.
Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Perry, Georgia on Friday, October 18, 2013, at 2:00 PM. The body will lie in state at the church one hour before the service for viewing. Interment will follow at Perry Memorial Gardens.
